I am in a hurry, my dear mommy, to say good evening to you if you will be receiving this in the evening and I wish you well any time. I received your letter yesterday and am thankful for that letter. While going home last night to write a letter to you, I ran into Goldman and I told him three times good-bye. Can you imagine, Polya, me when I saw your picture? Can you imagine him when he saw your picture? But he didn’t say a word. And then Gutman came, my friend, and they were sitting here until 1:00am and talking about salad [whatnot], so I couldn’t write. I will try to answer all the questions you asked. The first thing I will start with is your health. I wish you wellness and health. If I had an opportunity to be next to you and take care of you, I feel I would be happy. When I come back after each trip, I have a toothache and apparently it’s because you caught cold. Please stay healthy and don’t worry about your toothache any more. Regarding the dental equipment. I don’t know but as far as I understood Ropelman, he told me you don’t have to go to the hospital to study it. You can go to a private dentist and they can teach you. Ropelman may have misunderstood you, because he thought you wanted to be a dentist. You need to know this job as a dental assistant and all you need is a simple assistant’s certificate. I advise you to ask two or three private dentists and then give me the result. Regarding the university of beauty, please spit into his ugly face because what he says is nonsense. If you can’t do that, then you can attend a public university and study French and English. Please tell me, Polinka, about everything. All of them are temporary things, anyway. How much time are you going to spend in Paris? Three and a half months no more and then we are going to leave anyway. Dear Polinka, I want you to feel like you were only visiting. Why do you need to be upset about everything? You don’t have time for your private life. Why do you want to fight with Nina? Please try to live peacefully like we do with Tsillie and Lisa. You are not going to stay long with them. The only unpleasant thing is that the apartment is really cold because the winter is long enough. But Polinka, everything is going to be good soon and live happily to scare out enemies. Now in regards to your thoughts about my coming, I can tell you, to be assured and calm down. Are you dealing with a boy? I am writing a letter to you. I am sitting with you because you are sitting right here in the corner and I am kissing your wonderful lips and we are discussing our future. Only God knows where these thoughts can lead you to. Let me tell you, Polinka, if you are sure about your feelings towards me, they are not going to disappear either today or tomorrow and you can be sure of my feelings towards you. Whatever we discussed and planned will be fulfilled with God’s help. These three months are going to end soon and you are going to meet me at the Paris railroad station and I will hug you and kiss you. Why would you have doubts about my feelings if you spent three months among your relatives? I cannot understand it. I believe you with no limits and this faith is very solid if you are hard enough in your feelings towards me. Everyting was temporary, but now we are going to stay together forever. Death only will separate us from each other. You asked what do I write to my sister? I tell you that I already received an answer from her. She is sending a shifscard to me at my first request. And not only is she going to send a shifscard, she also is going to send a couple of dollars, that’s what she writes. Now regarding the money, my brother wants to go with me although I told him I am not going yet. About the money, I would like to leave this question open if she will send it that’s good. But if she will send the shifscard only, it’s also good. We will have money. I count that by Easter I will have 450 rubles and the shifscard. Now, Polya, you can see my sincerity towards you because I think about it seriously. Parallel to this letter I am answering the letter to my sister about sending the shifscard to me through a good port of a second class. You’re telling me that they know many things about us, but I am asking you to tell me more about it. What do they know, I mean your father about us? About our friendship? Does he know I am coming and we are going to leave for America? Write everything you know. It’s the 23rd today and I am expecting a letter from my request of the 22nd and I didn’t go to the Post Office because I doubt it’s there. I feel askward to see that clerk every day asking for your letters. I’ll go Saturday with the hope it will be there. Please write more often to me. I am writing often and the truth, this is the fifth one. I am going to the post office again, the first of February. Please do your best so I can receive one on that date. Are you wearing a ring? Are you happy with it? How is your toothache? Did it stop? It is midnight. I want to go to sleep. I will describe my private life in my next letter. Be healthy. Be happy. Your Uncle Ooch. Have a good night. I wish you all the best and I’ll see you soon.
